December To Do List

If you don't know by now, I love to make lists.
I'm old fashioned, i like to write on paper
and make notes to myself daily.
I couldn't live without my day planner,
or i guess i could, but i would be so disorganized.

When i make a list i am ten times more likely to fulfill
whatever it is asking. I get a little OCD about
wanting to cross things off my list.
I love being productive and there is always
enough time in the day if you just plan accordingly!
But enough about me...

Here's a list that is actually fun and not full
of errands or jobs.

Here's what i plan to do this Month:

  • See the Carol Ships in Ladner
  • Watch my list of Christmas Movies (see previous blog post)
  • Go ice skating at the Robson Square ice rink
  • Go see The Nutcracker Ballet
  • Go to 'Bright Nights' in Stanley Park
  • Send out Christmas cards to friends and family
  • Holiday baking with friends
  • Picture with Santa (one is never too old)
  • See the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Gardens
  • See the ArtsClub Theatre Performance of "It's A Wonderful Life"
What are some of your December traditions?

xoxo

Holiday baking is never complete without Snowman shaped Rice Krispies

On repeat: Michael Buble and Mariah Carey

Maria, gratia plena

One of the first things to get me into the Holiday
Spirit has got to be Christmas Movies.
This year I watched my first one during the first few days of December
and i have basically been in the mood ever since!

This is my first December that i haven't been cramming for finals,
researching essay topics, or prepping last minute projects.
It has made a Complete difference about how i think about this time of year.
Usually i am so burnt out BY Christmas that all of the fun
holiday traditions are completely lost and more of a last minute thought/burden.

Anyway, not this year!
I have completely been enjoying the prep and craziness of December.
I've been spending so much time with family and friends.
I started my Christmas shopping so early and have nearly finished already.
I have already sent out my huge stack of Christmas cards and
actually feel organized! score.
Not to mention, Michael Buble's Christmas CD has been playing nonstop.

Anyway here is my mostly complete list of Holiday movies that i would
love to watch before December comes to a close.

Holiday Movies to See - December 2012

  1. Love Actually
  2. Elf
  3. It's A Wonderful Life -Saw it Live on Granville Island with family
  4. Die Hard (at least ONE i can watch with the boy-apparently this is a Christmas movie..)
  5. Edward Scissor Hands
  6. A Charlie Brown Christmas
  7. Look Who's Talking Now
  8. Miracle on 34th Street
  9. Serendipity
  10. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
  11. Home Alone
  12. Home Alone 2
  13. A Christmas Carol
  14. A Christmas Story
  15. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
  16. Jingle All The Way
  17. The Santa Clause
  18. How The Grinch Stole Christmas
  19. Nightmare Before Christmas
Okay this seems large, but i am up for the challenge.
Plus I can already tick off a few!

What are your favourite Christmas Movies?
Any more i should add to my list?
Hope your December is starting off 'merrily'!

Michael Buble - Ave Maria

ps- Ave Maria is one of my absolute favourites,
it really reminds me of my Grandma Lorraine.

on sleepless roads the sleepless go

December is well underway now and it is one of my
favourite months for a number of reasons.
I'll get into that more later, but for now,
I love Holiday dressing!

Dinner dates, get-togethers, girls nights, etc.

Which all call for party frocks, nylons paired with skirts,
dress shirts and a ton of accessories.
I love this time of year because people seem to
want to dress up. I love dressing up, and rarely need
an occasion to do so, but i love how everyone else seems
to get the same vibe during the Christmas season.
Can't wait!

Check out these great holiday looks,
I'm definitely drawing inspiration from Atlantic-Pacific

are you free or are you tied up

In November i Graduated from University, I had finished in August but my
ceremony only took place a few weeks ago.
It was really nice to be surrounded by my closest family and to feel their
support of my long journey really was something to take a moment to reflect on and remember.

I wasn't sure how i would feel about it all now that it had ended...
relief? indifferent? thrilled?
I can honestly say at one point in that day i felt each of those emotions haha

I am so lucky and fortunate to have had the opportunity to get myself through
my degree and to have a large accomplishment finally completed.
Yet, i just know that there is a lot more to my life than school.
As there should be in my personal opinion.
While it was a struggle (to put it lightly) at some points, i really liked
being a student.
I love to learn.
I love to read, make connections, and research topics in-depth, but
i didn't love the stress i felt while doing those things. I know that it
is all a part of it, but i have certainly be relishing my new found freedom!

Question is what's next?
Whatever it is, I cannot wait to enjoy it.
I welcome all new experiences that will help me grow more as a person
and really discover what i am all about.

chasing the ghost of a good thing

I have updated the old blog with a slightly new and fresher look.
I have been on quite the blog hiatus, and that also goes for
reading of all my favourites, as well as neglecting my own.

relaxing and planning

It seems a lot has passed since my last few posts.
Things just got so busy and i needed to take a
personal time out, and although this blog does
not seem uber personal, to me it is.
Spending time reading things and posting things about myself, what i like,
what i want to do, reflecting on what i have done etc...
accounts for a lot of my personal time
and i just needed a break...from myself!
To be
To step back
To reevaluate
To adjust
To move forward
And interestingly, to regain my sense of self-which i somehow lost during
my busy hours of school and farm work.

Needless to say, I do believe that those days are behind me.

I feel more rejuvenated, creative, happy, relaxed and at peace now with myself
than i have felt in quite some time.
Which is ironic, since i have, at the moment, entered a portion of my life that is the
most unwritten, strange and foreign to me.

one fall day

With all this uncertainty i do feel that i am at a place
where i feel most 'in the moment'.
Letting things come and go as the may, and not forcing anything. I am lucky
to have some freedom- to have the opportunity to let the chips fall where they may,
and that is precisely what i will be doing for the next little bit!
And i am ready to keep in touch with myself within this blog.

happy friday

buttons are bustin'

Back on the topic of shoes,
do we ever really stray far from this topic?
So curious to see what the outfits attached
to these statement shoes look like?!
So unusual and unique. I dig.

There's something to be said for classics,
but there is a lot more to be said about
the aesthetic of the following pieces
of beauty

Over half of these heels are from Balenciaga
no surprise that i am in love.

Gold on the Ceiling

Currently topping my Want/Must Have
list are these Zara beauties!

want.want.want.want.

Blogger Aimee Song rocks them effortlessly
plus they are much more feminine than
what's currently on my shoe shelves.

Victoria Day Weekend

This past weekend was a long weekend as Monday
was Victoria Day here in Canada.
Many people probably don't know or care to know
what Victoria Day is even all about.
Generally, people don't question WHY we have long weekends,
they just accept them graciously and go camping etc.

Victoria Day marks the birthday of Queen Victoria, which
is pretty easy to remember...
But it also seems to informally signify the start of Summer!
We all know technically the first day of Summer is really June 21,
but that is ages away and the weather is finally warming up!

With all that background information being said I decided
it was time to write up my official
Summer To Do List for 2012
Putting my BookMarc journal to good use,
i jotted down (a lot of) good ideas to accomplish
this season.

Perhaps a bittttt over zealous, but let's
just see how many i can tackle!

What's on your Summer To Do list?
It helps me appreciate the Summer as more than the season
of just having a full time job :-/

Another helpful medium i use to keep myself organized for this season is my
semi-new to-do list notepad!!
I bought these a little while ago, but since i was in school my list
basically only consisted of School related tasks.
'Tis the season to be productive and utilize every moment!
I highly recommend this for any list-lover in your life!

Great items and quick shipping!

Well I'm off to do a million things!
Happy Tuesday!

Graduation 2012

 Andrea, Myself, and Danielle

Last week the Grade 12s from our local High School
celebrated their Graduation.
I had two cousins graduate, as well as my boyfriend's
sister, so the day became quite eventful.
Everyone looked gorgeous and i was so happy
to be present and a part of their memories.

Speaking of memories, it is absolutely absurd
that i graduated six years ago...
Where does the time go!?
I think back to Grade 12 with the fondest
of memories and i would not change a thing.
Many of the amazing people from that
time are still in a my life and it is crazy how
far we have all come together.

i feel so close to you right now

A couple weeks back i attended a jewelry launch party for
Amy Henwood Jewelry Design and i even snagged this nature
inspired, branch statement necklace.
I actually really love that it is dainty, as a lot of my other
statement necklaces are pretty huge and eye catching.
This little number is somewhat subtle.

All of her jewelry this collection revolves around the natural
world, including animals and trees.

Gold Studded Ballerina Flats

These are the beauties that have been
gracing my feet as of lately.
Trying to wear my flat shoes more often
and on that note, also trying to wear my heels/wedges
that don't see the pavement as much as they deserve too!
It is a challenge

Such beautiful weather here on the West Coast!
Soaking it up as much as possible, as i hear we have
a wee bit of rain in the forecast next week.
Anyways, i really love these three looks,
which is shocking considering i rarely embrace
colours that aren't black, white, grey, or red.
But, i think i can get into these softer choices.
Not loud, or bright, just feminine.
Anyways, lets not hope for a miracle, but i will
try my best to incorporate these muted tones
into my wardrobe!

Are you digging Springs latest trends?

#ThrowbackThursday

Sometimes i really miss the old MKA.
During the Spring/Summer i always turn to
their old California style for easy, boho chic looks.
Yet, just because they are living the NYC dream
doesn't mean they don't work a denim cut off
better than anyone else!
Love Them
Happy Thursday!
